Without the company of Meghan, the Marketing Crew here at Compendium decided to go on with our weekly lunch. This week Megan chose a place that we walked by one time when we were on our way to the city market… Stars Sandwich Market. Stars Sandwich Market was another one of those small places that typically you wouldn’t hear about unless you have friends who have been there a few times. When we walked in, there were several different types of pre-made, wrapped sandwiches on shelves in these upright coolers. We all scanned around and found something we were interested in. Megan ordered the special which was a half of bacon and egg salad sandwich, a soup and a drink. She thought it was great that the “special” was a flat $6.00. It just makes things easier if it is even anyway. She said that it wasn’t anything too spectacular… I mean it is really hard to mess up a sandwich. Mikey got the same thing, but the whole sandwich, the tomato soup and the drink. He said that it really ‘hit the spot’ and he would start putting bacon on his egg salad sandwiches. I had the Southwestern Chicken wrap, the tomato soup and a drink. The wrap was very good. I would say it tasted like a taco on a wrap… not a burrito though. The dill tomato soup that all of us ordered was simply amazing. We all agreed that it was delicious and Mikey went so far as to say that he was going to put dill in all of his soup from now on. Megan actually said that she would even go back for just the soup. I thought it was amazing, but when it was my turn to order, the man behind the counter didn’t have enough soup for a large bowl, so I had to just take what was left. The moral of that story is get there early because the soup is worth it.

As for price, it was very reasonably priced. Mikey thought it was a ‘good bang for your buck’. The atmosphere there is a little different than we expected. It was kind of a “throw-back” place, as in 50’s music, tables and stools. Also we felt that it would be a great ‘Grab and Go’ place to go for lunch. So if you are looking for something quick and delicious… go ahead and try out the Stars Sandwich Market at 116 N. Delaware, a little south of Market Street on Delaware.
